1. What we're aiming for

We want this site to work for everyone who needs an inspector, including people using a screen reader, navigating by keyboard, using magnification, or relying on captions.

We are working toward WCAG 2.2 Level AA, the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines published by the W3C. That is the standard most widely used to judge whether a website is usable by people with disabilities.

2. What we've done

• Text and background colors chosen and checked for contrast
• Headings in a real, ordered structure, so a screen reader can navigate the page
• Descriptive alternative text on images that carry meaning
• Forms with labels attached to their fields, not just placeholder text
• Link text that says where it goes, rather than “click here”
• Layouts that work at phone width and reflow when text is enlarged
• No content that flashes or auto-plays
• Keyboard access to navigation, forms and buttons

3. What we know isn't perfect

Listing these is more useful to you than pretending they don't exist.

• Embedded Google maps. Several pages embed a map from Google. We don't control how accessible that embed is. Everywhere a map appears, the same information — the areas we serve, our phone number — is also written out in text on the page
• PDF documents. Inspection reports and state insurance forms are PDFs, and PDFs are often poorly structured for screen readers. The state forms in particular are not ours to change. If you need a report in a different format, ask and we will provide it
• Third-party content. Anything served from outside this site, including map embeds, is outside our control

We have not used an accessibility overlay widget — one of those floating-button products that claims to fix a site automatically. They don't reliably work, and we'd rather fix the actual pages.

4. If the site doesn't work for you, we still will

This is the part that matters more than the rest of the page.

You never have to use this website to become a client. Everything here can be done by phone, and we are happy to do it that way:

• Book an inspection over the phone, start to finish
• Have the price, the scope and the schedule explained out loud
• Get the report in whatever format works for you, or have the findings walked through on a call for as long as it takes
• Have any information on this site read or explained to you

5. Tell us when something is broken

If you hit a page you can't use, we want to know. Tell us what page it was and what happened, and we will fix it or get you the information another way.

We aim to respond within two business days. If a fix will take longer than that, we'll tell you what we're doing and make sure you have what you needed in the meantime.

6. Review

This statement reflects our review of the site as of the date at the top of this page. We review accessibility when we make significant changes to the site, and we update this page when the answer changes.
